Legal Help for Accutane Victims

Whenever I hear about the Accutane disaster, I become more and more convinced of the merits of using natural acne cures.

According to a PR News release, 13 million persons worldwide were prescribed Accutane for acne.  The drug proved to be defective and dangerous. Some users have experienced severe injuries to the intestines. In some cases, surgery and removal of the colon has been necessary.

Other known side effects include depression, suicidal thoughts and, in the case of pregnant women, birth defects in babies.

How can such a thing happen?

Well, according to the press release:

"Juries are finding that Swiss-based Roche Pharmaceuticals, creator of Accutane, knew that its product was unsafe but kept selling it anyway," said a spokesperson for Accutane-Lawsuit-Lawyer.com. "Roche was making up to $1.2 billion per year in profits from Accutane. For Roche, eventual lawsuits were a trade off, and the human suffering was collateral damage."

Accutane-Lawsuit-Lawyer.com urges all Accutane victims living in the US to contact them to discuss legal assistance.  Various lawsuits  have already gone to court with the courts ruling in favor of the victims. $56 million in jury awards have already been settled.

Spokespersons from Accutane-Lawsuit Lawyer point out that many people experienced symptoms related to the use of Accutane, but until recently, were unaware of the connection. Even though some juries have disregarded the statutes of limitations for this reason, anyone who may have taken Accutane in the past is encouraged to contact the legal advisers. The clock is ticking, as they say.

The Lawfirm has also produced a video,. offering tips for masking acne with makeup.

With so many natural acne cures available, commercial remedies should be the very last approach to undertake.

Turmeric a Good Choice of the Acne Herbs

Anyone interested in acne herbs to treat the unpleasant skin condition known as acne may benefit from checking out the herb turmeric.  Some call it a wonder herb, but that may be a bit too optimistic.

While not a miracle worker, many people have discovered that this well known herb has had a significant affect on their acne blemishes.

Turmeric has antiseptic properties when applied to the skin. When ingested, it boosts the immune system.  When applied as a warm poultice to an injured area, it aids sprains and strains.

To use this acne herb, first mix it with an oil such as coconut oil or sesame oil.  This should give you a paste.  Cover your acne and surrounding skin with this turmeric paste.  Leave it on overnight, but let it dry first or you will end up smearing it all over the pillow and bedding.

By morning, you may be pleasantly surprised to note that the acne has decreased in size. Some say that the acne disappears totally after as little as three days of regular, nightly use.  Even adult acne, related to hormones, has been shown to respond to this approach.

Not only has turmeric been shown to dry out the acne pimples, but it prevents new spots from springing up.  Unlike many commercial products, it does not dry out the skin.  In fact, some people use this herb daily as a facial, leaving it on for ten minutes. They consider it a beauty treatment that contributes to having a great complexion.

Alternatively, you could take Turmeric capsules, which are sold in health food stores.  Turmeric offers additional health benefits when taken internally. Online reports claim that this herb has been found to contribute to mental acuity, improve hearth health, help with cholesterol issues and to have a positive impact on arthritis and type 2 diabetes.

Turmeric is definitely one of the acne herbs to investigate. It's one of the natural acne cures.

Try Echinacea Q as a Homeopathic Acne Remedy

Anyone looking for natural acne cures would do well to explore the acne homeopathic remedies.

Homeopathy is an alternative medicine. It works by treating the whole person rather than just a symptom.  The best and wisest approach to homeopathy is to see a qualified practitioner. You will benefit by their input and supervision of any treatment or remedy you may try.

You will need to provide a full list of symptom and other information.

There is a good chance that your practitioner will suggest that you take Echinacea Q for your acne pimples and blemishes.  A typical dose would be to mix the tincture in five drops of water and swallow this dose three times daily.

According to homeopathy professionals, you should see an improvement by the end of a week.  Most of the acne should have disappeared in a months time.

Said to work 95% of the time, Echinacea Q helps build an immunity towards a number of infections.  No side effects have been recorded.

In addition to Echinacea Q, there are various acne homeopathic remedies that will assist in clearing up the acne scars and other marks on the skin.

Try Cucumbers for Natural Acne Cures

One of the easiest natural acne cures to try is none other than the good old fashioned cucumber. The cuke has been around for ten thousand years and its long been touted as a natural cure for skin conditions.

Ancient societies such as the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans used them to heal skin. There is a good reason why they did. Cucumber is good for the skin and it has a cooling effect on the body.  This well known vegetable prevents water retention and is good for swelling and sunburn.

You often see cucumber listed as an ingredient in fancy and expensive skin creams, and it often shows up in luxurious spas.  However, using cucumber this way is likely to be expensive. The low cost way is to buy a cucumber at the supermarket, or grow them in your garden.

Simply cut the cucumber into slices and apply these slices to your skin where the acne pimples are. Leave it on for ten minutes or so and then remove.

It's good for the rest of you too. Do you body a favor and eat the cucumber that you don't put on your acne.

This vegetable is a member of the gourd family. Its relatives include watermelon, zucchini, pumpkin and squash. Cucumbers are low calorie (thirteen calories per cup) and high in nutrition. They contain necessary nutritional ingredients including Vitamin C, Vitamin A (both considered vitamins for acne), as well as potassium, magnesium, folate, dietary fibre and a mineral known as silica.

Natural Acne Remedies May be Best

As most teens can tell you, having acne is no fun. The blemishes are unattractive, embarrassing and sometimes uncomfortable. Commercial acne treatments, such as those products containing benzoyl peroxide, tend to dry the skin and cause other undesirable side effects. Many turn to natural acne treatments as an alternative.

Products such as mint, oatmeal and lemon can help.

To use mint, you will need some fresh mint, which can often be purchased in supermarkets or grown in the garden. You smash the peppermint leaves using a mortar and pestle, then rub gently on the affected area. Remove after ten minutes.  Mint is one of the acne herbs that are found to be helpful.

To use oatmeal, cook a serving of oatmeal and add one quarter cup of honey. Mix well, cool until comfortable and apply to the acne pimples.   Rinse this off after twenty minutes.

To use lemon juice, mix equal amounts of lemon juice and rosewater.  Splash this on your skin and leave it there for ten minutes before you wash it off.  You can buy rosewater in some grocery shops or health food stores, or you can make your own.

To make your own rose water, you will need to dry some rose petals. Wash them well before you dry them, because you want to get rid of any bacteria that could be on the plant.  You will need about a cup of dried rose petals. Cover them with three cups of water that is almost boiling. Cool this until it is at room temperature and pass it through a coffee filter or fine sieve.  Refrigerate until needed.  Throw out any that remains after a month.

Want to see a very funny song about acne?  It's sung by a young guy named Charlie McDonnell.

Good luck with your natural acne cures.

Teen Celebs Receive Big Money to Promote Acne Cures

It is easy to understand why teens and adolescents are turning to commercial remedies for acne, rather than first trying the natural acne cures that may be equally effective – but minus side effects and damage to the budget.

Proactiv, a well known acne treatment has just signed teen star Justin Bieber as a spokesman. Bieber will take home three million dollars in two years, just for telling teens he uses Proactiv on his pimples.

He's not the first high profile youth to bring home the mega-dollars this way.  Other paid spokespeople include Katy Perry, Avril Lavigne, Sean "Diddy" Combs, Jessica Simpson, Alicia Keys and Mandy Moore.

According to a VIP from Guthy-Renker, the company that markets Proactiv, they spend between twelve and fifteen million dollars each year on paid endorsements.  They know their market. Teens are more influenced by recording artists than they would be by other types of advertising, including TV commercials.

I hope parents will help their teenagers understand that their musical idols are paid big bucks to offer advice on acne treatments.   I would hope to see youth trying the natural acne cures, including acne herbs, vitamins for acne and other natural acne remedies before rushing out to the pharmacy, credit card in hand.

Acne Medication Leads to Bowel Problems

We have yet one more reason to believe that natural acne cures are the best thing to try first if you have this unpleasant and common skin condition.
A paper published recently in the American Journal of Gastroenterology indicates that isotretinoin (commonly known as Accutane) may in some cases, lead to inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.

The research subjects were 94,000 British teens and young adults. It is important to note that the persons who developed inflammatory bowel disease had been taking the medications for a long time -- months and sometimes years  The researchers said that this outcome is relatively rare. Anyone using the drugs should discuss the risks with their physician and make an informed decision as to whether to continue with the medication.
Natural acne cures, acne herbs, homeopathic remedies, etc. could be explored as an alternative

Diet and Acne: The Jury is Out

As far as I can tell, the jury is out as to whether diet contributes to acne -- either as a cause or as a cure. Do a Google search and you'll find plenty of people maintaining that a healthy diet helps lessen the severity of the outbreaks or helps prevent an acne outbreak from occurring.

On the other hand, we also find information posted on medical web sites saying that diet has no role to play at all, and that medical care and pharmaceutical solutions are recommended.

I believe that anyone with severe acne, especially  cystic acne, should certainly consult with a physician.  Otherwise, and as well as, I believe natural acne cures have a role to play.

For example, there are various studies suggesting that food sensitivities may indeed contribute to acne. In one such study, women consuming large amounts of dairy products were found to have more acne breakouts than women who ingested smaller amounts.  However, the researchers suggest that this could be caused by the high levels of hormones found in fresh dairy products, rather than in the dairy products themselves.

One thing is for sure:  natural acne cures such as a good diet and  vitamins  for acne will certainly not hurt anyone, and there is an excellent chance they can help.

Acne Drug Fights AIDS

Huh?

According to Seer Press News:

"Scientists from John Hopkins have confirmed that Minocycline, an antibiotic primarily used as an acne drug since its discovery in the 1970s can be used to fight HIV-causing virus that eventually cause AIDS."

Anything that helps fight AIDS is a good thing.

But for acne, I think I would prefer to start first with natural remedies like herbs or vitamins for acne

Incidentally, according  to US Vital Statistics, acne affects seventy people out of every one thousand in that country. That makes it the most common skin disorder

Acne and Acne Rosacea: Two Different Things

If you are about to try some natural acne cures, you must first be sure that the condition is acne.   People sometimes confused acne with another condition, erroneously called acne rosacea.

Acne is caused by dead skin, oil and bacteria that plugs the pores.  It is most prevalent among teenagers but can affect adults also.

Acne rosacea is a relatively common skin condition and is most prominent among fair skinned people. Although this condition is not clearly understood, it occurs because the small capillaries near the skin's surface expand, allowing an increase of blood.  The predominant symptom is redness, but this may be accompanied by pimples and blotches.

Natural Acne Cures are a Lifestyle Issue

Natural acne cures bring to mind the old remedies that mother taught us.

If you want to help rid yourself of acne through your diet, the steps to take are simple. Increase the amount of green vegetables and fruits that you eat. Stop eating junk food as much as possible and cut down on the amount of meat and dairy that you eat

Diet, exercise and hygiene play a role as well.
